Nepal Medics and Mountainteers Foundation NMMF is a unique and independent rescue organization and an element of change the country desires at the moment. What makes it different is its ability to carry out special medical evacuation as well as search and rescue missions by integrating professionals and experts. These missions were impossible to carry out without the servie of few private hoslitals in the past but NMMF is available and accessible to all. In the faculty of Medicine, there are trained professionals but until recently, their capacity to deliver necessary services were limited or met with constraints. However, this chain is broken and as such, Pre-Hospital care is being excersiced during medical transfers or emergency medical evacuations beyond the boundary of hospitals. NMMF is bound to elevate current practices in the field of Medicine and Mountain Search and Rescue. For the first time in the modern history, NMMF has enabled a viable platform to integrate Medics, Mountaineers, Aviaators and Administration  to coordinate and execute Medical Evacuations, Repatriation, Systematic Interhospital Transfer by land and air. The medics are dispatch ready in short notice to the site of accident, incidents and disasters and perform Pre Hospital Care upon arrival to the scene. This well trained team has what it takes to deliver in the most critical of time. And very soon, everyone will know who to call, how to call and how much is the cost of search and rescue evacuations or missions through published transparent pricing policy. 

NMMF will elevate current standards of Helicopter Evacuations in the Mountains. Past practices and activites has raised alarms all over the world on the scam infested rescue industry in which hospitals are also in the mix. Having learned and lived to see the reputation of rescue activites tarnished, our team realized that it was time to act than react. Thus NMMF was created. This is key to bring back confidence for the travellers and the Travel Insurance providers in otherwise standard less industry. Tourism industry flourishes when visitors feel safe to travel and have the luxury to spend in adventure activities, not when they have to be rescued unnecessarily and spend few nights in hospitals even when the circumsatances do not demand them to be there. NMMF will play the role of educator of safe mountain practice through Training and Development Program. 

We have begun, we will learn, persevere and continue to be better. Together, we will create a system and show transparency in conducting Medical Evacuation, Search and Rescue, Recovery, Repatriations as well as training and research activities beneficial to Nepalese citizens and visitors seeking holiday retreats. Our team will strive to establish honesty and integrity and trust to those in need of critical care for everyone in Nepal and this is a feat we aim to achieve with your support and cooperation. Nepal Medics and Mountaineers Foundation (NMMF) is a national level initiative by a group of committed individuals, well-known for their professional experience in the field of Medicine, Aviation, and Mountaineering sector. NMMF was established on February 04, 2020 as a Non-Profit Organization. Its core area of work is to facilitate and standardize:

 

1. Pre-Hospital Care
2. Evacuation/ Repatriation of Patients in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) equipped air and land ambulance
3. Search and Rescue/ Recovery Mission in the Mountains
4. Training and Development Program to produce future first responders to carry out above mentioned missions.

 

NMMF aims to be the center for Medical Evacuation/ Repatriation of patients as well as to carry out Search, Rescue and Recovery mission. It is first of its kind in Nepal and South East Asia to facilitate, restructure and modernize Medical Evacuation and Mountain Rescue System. It organizes, coordinates and performs rescue interventions and transportation of accident/ ill victims from remote areas into the nearest medical facility and hospitals with pre-hospital care. NMMF can respond to distress situations within hours of first call and mobilize a rescue team from the Tribhuwan International Airport Helipad. The medical team is on standby at the airport NMMF facility ready to board the helicopters within minutes. A doctor is on standby and can be dispatched within an hour.

We want to establish a fair system for medical evacuation to elevate and replace current practices. Our goal is to ensure Prehospital care methods are put in practice whenever a patient is transferred from hospital, homes of incident sites. All of us at NMMF are committed to save lives.
