Sanij was born in a village of eastern terai of Nepal to a middle class family. He was lucky to get a place in Budhanilkantha school after a nationwide free competition for the entrance. He graduated high school from there and went on to study medicine in Philippines. After securing a place in Cebu Institute of medicine ( a top ranked medical college in The Philippines), he came back to Nepal in 2004 and served in different places as Medical Officer. He went on to complete USMLE and had ECFMG certification in in 2008. After securing a full scholarship from Nick Simons Institute, he completed his post graduation training in General practice from National Academy of medical sciences in 2011 and served the remote places of Nepal like Salyan and Mahottari. Both places he is credited to have started the operative services in the hospital. After completing 3 years of rural services he joined Grande International Hospital in 2014 and served there as Emergency Physician. During this period, he was exposed to Emergency medical services and Helicopter emergency medical services and gained the much needed experiences there. Since September 2017 he has been working as a consultant Emergency Physician, Emergency room Incharge in Nepal Mediciti hospital.
